Tidbits

Random things....
Finished my LO for Chelsea's monthly challenge.
Challenge: Use the colours blue, green and brown.

(yeah, so I'm still trying to get the hang of taking GOOD pictures of my projects. WIP)
The envelope has a paper with this quote inside: Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.
-Franklin D. Roosevelt
Sidenote: I've started to really care about how my LOs look in pictures...suddenly. I am trying to get used to the whole editing thing. Cropping, rotating, exposure etc is pretty tricky. Any ideas or tricks for getting really good pictures of SBing projects and editing them???

Creativity? A Giveaway?

Hi. :)

I've been trying to work on some monthly creative challenges and have gotten 2 done today!

Not the kind of page I usually do but it's good to step outside of the creative box occasionally.

I layered fabric, soft mesh, crate restoration paper and brads.

Next:

The yellow words in the title say "is hard to do". (singsong voice "Breaking up is haaard toooo dooo.")
Used a sketch for this layout as well. (sidenote: I actually have a hard time following sketches...am I the only one?)

One more thing...there is a GREAT giveaway/contest-ish thing on the Obsessed with Scrapbooking blog. :) Even though hundreds of people have entered to win the PINK CRICUT EXPRESSION up for grabs, might as well give it a shot! (and spread the love.)

Gift Wrapping Love

The new gift wrapping line from LIITD is just so cute. So many cute products that can be used for a bunch of different crafts! Here is what I made with a few of the supplies.
Pillow box, bag, doilies, music note paper, baker's twine and leaves are from the new line.

So sweet! The products will be available in their online store very soon.

14 hours of scrapbooking? :D

Raining, raining, raining today! Time for a blog post.

I went to an all day crop in Miami, Manitoba on Saturday. (hosted by LIITD)

I got 4 pages and a card done. Not as much as I usually do, but I think it's because I spent so much time shopping and doing the demo.

Let us eat cake. :)

Hi. :)
Although I enjoy cooking, I'm not very skilled in the art of baking...at all. But regardless of that small tidbit of fact, I decided to bake a cake this afternoon. Double layer carrot pumpkin with brown sugar cream cheese icing. It actually didn't turn out bad!
Sooo, my icing technique could use some work...;)

Mmmmmm....
Loved the pumpkin in it and it smelled super good while it was baking.
I can sure tell it's Fall...I raked a billion piles of leaves in the front yard today. :)

My Lola was veerryyy happy to frolic around in the leaves. =))
Hoping to get some scrapping in tonight. Bought some new supplies today and I can't wait to use them!

World Cardmaking Day 2010

Yes, I made 2 cards to celebrate WCMD...and I'm entering them in draws. (Hey, might as well benefit from it LOL.)
First one:
Made entirely from American Crafts products. (minus the cardstock) Paper, ribbon, brads, felty flowers, rubons, pens, chipboard letters, journaling sticker. All AC!
Second:

A gift card holder for a Creative Team Challenge over at http://www.loveisinthedetails.ca/ Made it a little bigger so I could slip a little note inside as well. :)

Happy Cardmaking Day!!

Online Cropping. I love it.

Participated in an online crop last week. It had started at the beginning of September but I didn't find out about it until a few days before the deadline. Worked like a crazed scrapping lunatic to get some pages finished because the prizes for the challenges were just AWESOME. Seriously, I was frantically trying to scrap and upload pictures for it 10 minutes before the deadline. (BTW, the laptop I was trying to upload pictures on to froze up at about 11:49pm...deadline was 11:59pm. Yeah, you can imagine.) I had worked like crazy in between school, work and church to finish at least a few pages. Pity any person who interrupts Brookie while she is immersed in the scrapbooking creative process. :)
Anyways, just figured I would share a few of the pages I submitted...the winners are being announced Sunday evening!

Challenge: make a page about your mom. (I chose to highlight my mom's sense of humour. BTW I love puns. Clearly.)

Challenge: Use a supply that you have been hoarding. (I used this B&W flocked paper that I have had for MONTHS. I love it, and even now only used a small piece. Wonder if they would consider doing a "Scrapbooking Hoarders" series?  Pretty sure I could qualify. ;) )

Challenge: Design your own patterned paper. (I made the little square of paper in the upper left corner. Maybe a little bit of a cop-out to use such a small piece...but w/e it works. :) Please notice that I pushed myself and used another small piece of that B&W flocked paper...maybe I'm not cut out for "Scrapbooking Hoarders" after all...)

Challenge: Use something unique that you didn't buy at LIITD Scrapbooking store- the site hosting the crop. (I totally stepped out of my comfort zone for this LO...when do I ever not use a grid or a lot of white space?? Never! And I love the rainbow musical notes paper. )

So, there is some of my "latest work". Hope you liked it! :)
Oh and tomorrow is National Cardmaking Day. Regardless of my lack of cardmaking talent I will be scrappily obligated to make one...and post it on my blog....out of duty to my craft...oh the poor soul who will receive my card. :D
